ACBD RESIDENCE
Fall 2022 — RESIDENTIAL
The ACBD Residence was designed for the granddaughter of a Mies Van der Rohe protégé. Challenged with goals of intimacy, order, and themes of family influence, the project employs an axial plan and programmatic massing to organize spaces and to conform to its sloped site. Public spaces are opened for light, volume, and views toward the rear wooded stream area. Private spaces remain lower and are wrapped in curves creating softened interiors and exterior facades that blend with their landscape. A quilt by the owner's grandmother influenced interior colors and hangs prominently in the kitchen.
